Hilary finds great joy in teaching music and guitar to students of all ages and levels, from infants and toddlers in parent-child music classes to adults and senior citizens, through private lessons, group lessons, and group ensembles. Hilary has been the head of the Guitar Department on the music faculties at Pacific Lutheran University and Seattle Pacific University, a music instructor at Seattle Symphony Soundbridge Program, as well as the co-owner of Mulberry Bush Music and Movement, specializing in music classes for children and families. Her training in Suzuki Guitar, MusikGarten and Music Together inform her approach to engage and inspire young students, many of whom started studying with her around pre-school age and continued through high school graduation, taking their skills and love and appreciation of music throughout their lives. Adult lessons also focus on the love of learning, with obtaining the technique and theory to understand the music underneath the notes, and to express the music within themselves. Letters of reference and free trial lessons are available upon request.
